Nudie (of Nudie & The Turks)

From country to Americana and honkey-tonk, guitarist/vocalist Nudie of Nudie and the Turks knows how to celebrate the roots of acoustic music. Based out of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, Nudie and The Turks, formed in the spring of 2005 and went from busking anywhere and everywhere to being showcased at the East Coast Music Awards -- no small feat for their first 3-months as a band.

After playing clubs and a 6-month residency at the infamous Elm Avenue Social Club, they followed Willie Nelson's Maritime Tour in 2006.

Four shows into the ten city tour, Billy English (Willie's percussionist/drummer) joined them, playing snare drum. An invitation was extended to come to Texas to play Poodie Locke's (Willie's tour manager of 30+ years) club outside of Austin.

Since then they've regularly hit the tour circuit, playing the Maritimes, Ontario, Quebec & Arizona. 2007 sees them touring Canada & the U.S. as well as releasing a follow-up to their debut release.

Guitarist Nudie used a Johnson 000-style herringbone 000-style to play and record on their self-titled debut record.

For touring and recordings, Nudie endorses the all-solid Johnson Carolina 000-Style (JO-27).

"They say the OOO size guitar is the best to accompany the human voice," Nudie says. "The Carolina series OOO is a singer's dream."
